The Great Commission
Why are missions important to us?
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20
The above verses, given to the disciples by Jesus himself, are just as appropriate and timely for us today as it was when He spoke them. Imagine the spiritual state of the world if the modern Church would embrace this teaching like the first century Christians. We at Hillview try to emulate just that. We embrace opportunities to communicate the Gospel of Jesus to all peoples. Our goal is to see the world come to wholeness in Christ and become empowered by that message. When this happens, the Word takes root and flourishes. We then see vibrant, multiplying churches–our partners in ministry–who likewise carry that same passion forward generation to generation. To do anything less is to be disobedient to God’s teaching.
Hillview has been blessed with numerous people who see the necessity of partnering with churches and organizations who are like-minded in our faith. Together we can and must change the world. Hillview will continue to raise up teachers who are burdened to carry that message. When we cannot go personally, then we financially support those who have the same vision and core beliefs. Together, we then become those who equip and teach the Word of God.
When Philip asked the Ethiopian if he understood what he was reading he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
May we always be ready to give an answer and teach the scriptures across the world.
